The Game Store - Jacksonville

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Game Store is hands down one of the best local game shops around! The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to help whether you’re looking for trading cards, board games, video games, comics, or collectibles. The atmosphere is welcoming, and it’s clear they’re passionate about building a great gaming community. Their selection is excellent, with new products coming in regularly, and the prices are fair. Whether you’re a longtime hobbyist or just getting started, you’ll feel right at home. It’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back? not just for the games, but for the people. Highly recommend stopping by and supporting this fantastic local business!

I can’t recommend this store based on my experience with its event management. Prize support for events feels unclear and, at times, questionable. Players are often expected to handle much of the event organization and administration themselves, while the store appears to take a hands-off approach despite benefiting from participation. The biggest concern is event prizing. There seems to be a lack of transparency regarding how prizes are distributed, and it can give the impression that prizes intended for events are not always making their way back to the players. When participants spend time and money supporting a local community, they deserve confidence that advertised rewards will be handled fairly and openly. What makes this especially disappointing is that some players travel more than an hour to attend these events. They invest significant time, fuel, and entry fees because they want to support the community and enjoy organized play. When concerns arise about prize distribution and players are left to run much of the event themselves, it can feel like that commitment and effort are not being respected. A good game store should support its players, provide clear communication, and actively manage its events. Unfortunately, my experience here left me feeling that too much responsibility was placed on the players while too little accountability was taken by the store.

Brian is the absolute best!! I ordered online, and my package was stated as delivered though nothing showed up (at first). I waited a day since I didn't want to rush into things. The next morning, still nothing. So I tried filing a claim through the UPS website since they delivered the package, but their website wouldn't allow it. I then called their customer service number and had a terrible experience with them. Brian came to my rescue and helped me out. After the conversation with both UPS and Brian, I was able to get UPS dispatcher to call me about the package and delivery driver. After talking about finding out what happened, I'm happy to say that I received the package! I'm so excited to have my first commander deck for Magic the Gathering. I'm a new player and now hyped to play with friends! I will definitely order again. Thanks again, Brian!

Update: The staff are alright but the owner is a cheapskate whom says he’d rather sell to whatnot streamers that pay full “market” prices for sealed products rather than to actual Fans & Collectors of the genre! SMH 😒 no more business from me! 💯
