I went in and bought a controller and memory chip 2pm 8/23. They try and sell me a pro membership i said no thanks oh with your purchase it is free. I specifically asked the manager and the other employee. Are you signing me up for a auto renewal they both said no. I got 50 feet from the store I got a email with confirmation from gamestop that I just signed up for auto renew with the credit card I just used in the store. I walked back to the store and the manager and employee both pretended not to know what I was talking about. I showed them the email and they said oh sorry the computer is weird sometimes. No you guys know you signed me up. That not cool

Speaking from my own personal experience, I’m pretty pleased with the staff and the store in general. Chris made sure I was able to receive a promotional Pokemon card even after finishing an 8 hour shift and not being able to be there at its releas without pressure to buy anything. I’m giving the staff some grace since they deal with all types of dynamic personalities (fellow retail worker myself). Overall I felt valued and excited to receive the promo card without stressing. Thank you to our local Myrtle beach GameStop!

The employees at this store are absolutely terrible. Not sure how they stay employed here. I’ve been in here 5 times now. First time I did make a purchase but had to stand at the counter, walked between both registers before being helped. I have NEVER been greeted, “welcome in, how are you, can I help you.” When I’ve been in the store, not once! My family and I now have a running joke/game every time we go in the mall we go into this toilet of a GameStop, walk a slow circle while looking and leave just to see if we will get a greeting or any sort of basic customer service. Still hasn’t happened lol. This store is an absolute joke.

I would strongly caution anyone considering purchasing trading or gaming card packs from this GameStop location in Myrtle Beach. At the time of purchase, we were explicitly told by a store associate that the item could be returned within 15 days as long as it remained unopened, in case our son already had the same pack at home. When we attempted to return the unopened item within that timeframe, we were informed that no returns are allowed on any gaming cards, directly contradicting what we were told at purchase. This inconsistency feels misleading and places customers in a position where they are relying on inaccurate information. I encourage others to do their research, ask for written confirmation of return policies, and proceed with caution when purchasing collectible card products from this location. Transparency matters, and this experience fell short of that standard. Caution : This place is a scam !

I went to the location in Costal Grand mall location to purchase a new release of Pokémon cards for my son. I admit that I am unfamiliar with the craze. While at the counter I asked if they had any other recently released Pokémon items that my son might like. Austin, asked if my son had the recently released Airbender collector box. I said that no, I didn't think he did. I asked if they were Pokémon cards. He responded that they are like Pokémon cards and that they are very popular. I purchased the $70 Airbender box. I few hours later I picked my son up from school. I showed him the Airbender pack. He said no I don't collect magic cards, some kids like them but I don't. Apparently they are not connected with Pokémon in any way. Shortly after that I returned to the store with the unopened box and the receipt. Austin was still there. I told him that my son didn't want magic cards and I wanted to return them. He sighed and rolled his eyes. He asked me for receipt and scanned. He asked for my ID and telephone number. He stepped back from the register and said, you can't return them, the computer says that all sales are final. I told him a manager can usually override the computer. He responded no I can't do that. I return home and called game stop customer service. The said that I can return them at any game stop location. I told them what had transpired. I was told to try a different game stop and to see if they would refund my money, that they hoped that I had a good day and hung up. I call the coastal grand store and asked to speak to a manager. Of course, Austin is a manager. Their prices are higher and they have terrible customer service.
