I stopped in to purchase some one piece cards and they were definitely over priced compared to what you can buy online but I wanted to try and support local as they would say.. i try negotiating on some sealed one pieces boxes that they had but they wouldn’t move on price even though they were way higher then online prices again.. went across town to the other local shop games king and they were very pleasant to deal with, they limit packs but are msrp prices and not trying to price gouged you, I understand you need to make money but be honest with yourself and stop telling people to support small business and not big box stores but then you try and sell off tcg prices… big box store all the way atleast they are msrp.. and honest..

This place died unfortunately when the original owner, Geoff passed and has never been able to live up to what he had established in the Siouxland area. Very sad to see a once great business be squandered. Also really hate the new location the previous locations had so much effort and love put into them.

My experience with Gamer Lair has been somewhat mixed. To begin with the advantages, the pricing of their products, encompassing both pre-owned and new items, is generally reasonable. The condition of their consoles is acceptable, and the overall atmosphere is rather inviting. Let's now address some areas for improvement. The trade-in value offered for pre-owned consoles appears to be significantly below market expectations. For instance, on one occasion, a limited edition Last of Us PS4 Pro console was offered a remarkably low price. While the immediate financial need necessitated acceptance of the offer, the decision has been a source of ongoing dissatisfaction. Regarding customer service, an incident occurred where a PS4 purchased as a gift for a nephew was found to have a remapped controller, with the 'circle' button functioning as the primary access button instead of the standard 'X' button. Upon returning the item, the issue was acknowledged and a replacement was provided. However, the replacement console failed to register discs and exhibited a power-off malfunction. When this concern was brought to the attention of a staff member, he displayed a negative demeanor, asserting the console was functional despite only performing a power cycle by disconnecting it while active. I subsequently lodged a complaint regarding this employee's conduct, which resulted in him becoming agitated and posing irrelevant questions, including whether I possessed an electrician's qualifications, and drawing an inappropriate comparison between a PS4 and a car engine. This individual's behavior was entirely inappropriate and unprofessional, rendering him unsuitable for a customer-facing role. On a separate occasion, seeking to give the establishment another opportunity, I inquired about purchasing a 3DS console. A new employee opened the display case and offered a discount, quoting a price of $199. However, upon inspecting the console, I observed that the attached price tag already indicated the exact amount he had presented as a discounted price. So to make a long story short gamer lair has nonprofesional worker with attitudes, a girl that works there and has no idea whats shes doing or even talks about, and to top it all of there a bunch of liars that want your money for there garbage.

The staff at Game Lair were friendly, knowledgeable, and kind, and helped us navigate their well-stocked store. It’s the kind of place where you can lose track of time just browsing—rows of classic cartridges and discs bring back memories of long weekends spent mastering impossible levels, while glass cases display carefully preserved retro systems that feel more like pieces of history than just old hardware. There’s a real sense of appreciation for gaming’s past here, not just as nostalgia, but as something worth preserving and sharing. Beyond the video games, the shop has an inviting mix of collectibles that makes every visit feel like a bit of a treasure hunt. Shelves of trading card games are stocked with both the latest releases and older sets that spark that collector’s itch, whether you’re chasing competitive decks or just reliving the excitement of cracking open packs. You’ll also find figures, accessories, and all sorts of odds and ends that tap into different corners of gaming and pop culture, making it easy to stumble across something you didn’t even know you were looking for. What really ties it all together is the atmosphere—the staff don’t just work there, they clearly enjoy the hobby, and that comes through in how they talk with customers and offer recommendations. Whether you’re a longtime collector, a casual player, or someone introducing a new generation to the classics, Game Lair feels like a place where all of that enthusiasm is welcomed and shared. 10/10 - will visit again!
