Elm City Games

Elm City Games is a great place for gamers. It's a great place for a birthday party for a gamer too. There are lots of games to play and a nice selection of games to buy too.

Great for board games. Terrible if you play TCGs. They have a store policy against hosting any competitive events which for some reason extends to any casual but official organized play. For games like One Piece or Riftbound, the store gets barely anything because allocations are decided looking at organized events as a metric. If you want to play here in the back of the store, you still have to pay a fee, but don’t get any of the perks (participation packs, etc.) of organized events, so of course no one plays here. It’s a real shame, I think it would be great for the community to have a store with TCG nights in New Haven proper since all of the closest ones are kind of far if you don’t drive—which many people don’t in a college town.

Very extensive game store and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about all the different kinds of games and can provide recommendations. They have a lot of community events which is cool, I just wish they were free. It was $10 to play games but since we only had about an hour we decided it wouldn't be worth it. I wish they had a puzzle table open in the shop, that would be a nice addition.

Great fun atmosphere with big selection of board games to play

Great little shop! They have a ton of games and have rooms and a rental library for you to play games. Very reasonable prices for everything. I came in for some pokemon cards and they sell at MSRP as long as you let them clip the packs to prove you're not reselling (which is an awesome practice that rewards true players / collectors of the hobby).
