Dragon's Lair Comics & Fantasy at Alamo Ranch

Great selection but that's about all the praise I have. They don't do singles which is disappointing. Staff has been pretty dismissive unfortunately (the one staff member I have seen anyway). I keep trying to buy boxes of Riftbound and Union Arena product and routinely get told no due to lack of availability, but I see 10+ boxes behind the clerk. Guess I'll just go elsewhere to buy boxes.

I visited Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy in Alamo Ranch for the first time while looking for The Thing on the Doorstep #3 and a few other titles I had been searching for. Chris immediately noticed me going through the drawers and asked if I was finding everything okay. He then said, “Talk to me, how can I help you?” — and from that moment on, he delivered the most helpful, polite, and patient customer service I’ve ever experienced. He took the time to explain their subscription service in detail, walking me through the policies step by step so I fully understood how everything works. He also introduced me to their Hero Points system, and because of how clearly and enthusiastically he explained it, I signed up right away. Chris went above and beyond in every way. He was extremely knowledgeable, charismatic, and genuinely invested in helping me find exactly what I needed. It’s rare to encounter someone who combines professionalism with that level of enthusiasm and care. If I could, I’d give him a 10/5 rating. Outstanding experience.

Had an awesome time at Free Comic Book Day at Dragon’s Lair in Alamo Ranch! Outstanding customer service, a great selection of comics, and an impressive variety of guests at the event. Everything was well organized and created such a fun atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back! Loved seeing all the cosplay and community involvement too — it really made the event special. #Thisistheway #TheMandalorian #Ghostbusters #TheBatmanofSanAntonio

We have been coming to this store for a few years and love it. Today I was pushed to leave a review because another patron started following me and my sibling around the store, asking personal questions. I was able to alert the staff and the ended up hiding us for a bit and checking in on us. 10/10 service and so much gratitude. I have had other store let that happen or blame me for being "too nice" so having any action was extremely kind. Will highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a safe place.

If nerd paradise had a physical address, it would be Dragon’s Lair at Alamo Ranch. The second you walk in, it feels like you’ve stepped into a side quest you actually want to complete. ✨ The comic selection? Stacked. The manga? Dangerous to your wallet (in the best way). The collectibles? Let’s just say self-control left the chat. And the staff? Absolute legends. They’re friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to help you find your next obsession—whether that’s a new series, a tabletop campaign, or something shiny you didn’t plan on buying but somehow needed. The gaming space is roomy and welcoming, perfect for rolling dice, battling it out, or just vibing with fellow fantasy lovers. It’s not just a store—it’s a full-on geek sanctuary. 10/10 would enter the dragon’s den again. 🐉✨
