In town for work and had some free time to myself for the evening, so I stopped in to check out their selection of mtg bulk cards since it’s usually a pretty chill way to waste an hour or two. Asked about how they had their bulk cards sorted and was given some very helpful and friendly information by one of the guys behind the counter. I thanked him and then grabbed a couple bulk green and white card boxes from the front and found a quiet empty table to begin looking for any interesting cards for a commander deck I’ve been working on. (Something that I’ve done with zero issues at literally every single card shop with a good selection of bulk cards) I had barely made it through even a quarter of one box before the other guy from behind the counter approaches and abruptly tells me that he would “kindly ask if you kept those boxes up front” in a tone that seemed to suggest that I must be incapable of controlling myself around $0.50 bulk rares and would eventually succumb to shoving fistfuls of them in my pockets and racing out of the store. The weird vibes really threw me off since they had just watched me grab the boxes from in front of them without saying a word no more than 5 minutes earlier. Either way, I still genuinely apologized for my ignorance and took them immediately back up front and left without saying anything more or making any sort of purchase. Big bummer since this place seems to have such high reviews mentioning how friendly the staff is. To be fair, they do have a nice amount of color/rarity sorted bulk cards if you’re willing to stand the entire time and sort through them under the watchful eye of the front counter.

I have been going to Common Room for 7 years and it has always been a fun and welcoming place with friendly, knowledgeable people from the owner to the employees to the customers. I would highly recommend this game store whether it is to shop, play games, or meet new people.

Great little shop! Staff is always helpful and present, without pestering. Went this week to grab some cards for burgeoning player celebrating good grades, and the clerk gifted some starter boosters! Such a sweet gesture! Also, has a growing and rad selection of ttrpgs, including several indie titles!

Went looking for a dungeon crawler and left highly satisfied! Everyone was so much help, the employees and even the few people who were there just gaming were very helpful! They gave us insight on a game and we’ve been playing it all weekend and look forward to our weekend game nights from now on! Can’t wait to find our next game; will definitely be back.
