The Kraken's Crate

The absolute best game store experience I've had in Iowa. The store is well stocked and perfectly laid out. The owners Jess and Cody are very friendly and you can tell this is a passion of theirs. The community I have met at the store are all wonderful people. I will be coming back as often as I can.

The Crate is a beautiful and energetic place to spend an afternoon playing games. Jess and Cody have really done a great job fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere with every detail well thought out; from the activities and events they host to the very scent of the store! They have build a strong and lasting community built off inclusivity, compassion and a love of games. Weather you fancy a game of magic, d&d, daggerhart, bored games, card games or just want to relax with some cool people and hang out, there's always a place for you at the Crate.

A Kraken good time! The atmosphere is genuinely cozy and welcoming—the perfect spot to spend an evening gaming with friends. Beyond the great atmosphere, their selection is top-tier and it is games that you can't find in big box stores. A huge shoutout to Cody and Jess; their passion is clear in the fantastic store decorations, the meticulously curated game selection, and their genuine warmth and helpfulness. If you're into board games, card games, or DnD you need to check this place out. A definite 11/10 recommendation!

The Krakens Crate is what all game store should be: inviting and fun! As an mtg fan, I was happy to see that they have a good selection of booster packs and commander precons at good prices. Their selection of board games is unmatched and they have a vast library of board games that you can play in store. The space is very clean and has a chic, homey feel. Lots of tables to play at. The staff are great and I appreciate the vision they have for their store as an inclusive community space that welcomes all people at various levels of gaming interest.

I love the Kraken's Crate because I feel like it is a safe and comfortable space to take my kids to hang out and play board and dice games. There's multiple tables to use to play a variety of different games as well! The owners are extremely kind and understanding, they encourage learning new games as much as they know we all love to play our tried and true favorites! If you get a chance, definitely stop in and have a look around! We will definitely be returning as regulars!
