I showed up at 5:00 a.m. for The Hobbit release. Another couple arrived around 6:00 a.m., and we ended up having a great conversation while we waited for TBS Comics to open at 10:00 a.m. The day before the release, I had called the store to ask whether they expected to have any collector’s boxes in stock and what the price would be. The only information the associate could provide was that they would probably have some available, but they didn’t know what the price would be. Because of that, when the store opened and we went inside, I asked the couple if they would mind going ahead of me in line so I could hear the price before deciding whether to purchase one. After they each purchased a collector’s box, it was finally my turn. I was then told that, because it appeared we were a group, I would not be allowed to purchase one. I didn’t argue or make a scene—I simply left because I don’t like confrontation or public arguments. While driving home, I called the store to ask about their policy. The supervisor on duty explained that the policy is typically one collector’s box per couple or group. I asked why the couple ahead of me had each been allowed to purchase a box while I was denied, and the only explanation I received was that we “looked like a group.” This was confusing because we had arrived in separate vehicles and had only met while waiting in line that morning. I would also like to note that the collector’s boxes were priced approximately $200 higher than those offered by other local vendors. My concern isn’t the price itself—stores are free to set their own prices—but rather the inconsistent application of the purchasing policy. As someone who spends several thousand dollars a month on Magic: The Gathering products, I can confidently say that none of my future purchases will be made at this location. I don’t mind paying a premium for good customer service and fair treatment, but this experience left me feeling that the policy was applied inconsistently, and I can no longer support this store. —— After speaking with Mr. Edward, I’ve decided to update my review. He personally turned what started as a very unpleasant experience into a genuinely positive one through a thoughtful and professional conversation. I truly appreciate the time he took to listen to my concerns and address them. Because of that interaction, I look forward to my next visit to TBS Comics and hope to continue supporting the business.

Great range of products! You find what you’re looking for most of the time. TBS is one of the biggest comic book stores in the Florida panhandle, and they have helped bring community to the nerds in the area. However, I feel that the staff wasn’t very friendly or welcoming during a particular visit. My girlfriend and I waited in line to buy what we had found, and after the person in front of us left, the cashier completely ignored us so he could hang out with his kid for a minute. Someone else had to alert him to our presence. We both felt very ignored in that moment and I have heard testimonies from my girlfriend about how unwelcoming they are to women. I understand that TBS is family owned, and I have no problem with a father showing love to his son, but in your place of work, you should also prioritize the needs of the customer, and make them feel welcome in your space.

We were out running around to a few different places just generally browsing for some games and collectibles my daughter & wife have started getting into. Most of the stores had almost exclusively the same options of whatever the popular current things are. While TBS has that too, they also have a great variety of new harder to find options to browse through that either weren't available at other stores or were too disorganized to browse. We wound up finding plenty of things there that my daughter actually wants to read over summer break that we hadn't known was available. Very helpful staff that knows their stuff.

Had a friend in town and they wanted to stop in and buy a few things for family back home. Pulled up at 6pm and there was absolutely no where to park. Ended up just leaving and not shopping. Hosting events are great but it can also push out any new business / customers like it did today.

We came here for the Pokémon League Challenge. Great store and so much selection. What a great place. It is way bigger than it looks. Thank you for hosting the game.
