Scruffy City TCG

I gave 3 stars because the staff was very prompt when I reached out online for information. However, the in-store experience was disappointing. The shop has very little inventory and feels much more like a community gaming space than a retail store to actually buy cards. As a beginner, I did not find the environment welcoming or inviting. I stopped in once, but the staff was so engrossed in a casual conversation with another customer about favorite characters that they didn't even greet me or say hello. When I followed up online and mentioned I had stopped by, there was no invitation to come back in. When I asked about opportunities to play, I was just told, "We don't really have a night we play, just a card trading night and some people play then." The overall experience was unwelcoming enough that it made me feel like the TCG hobby might not be for me, even though I enjoy the game itself.

I couldn’t recommend this shop enough! My wife and I stopped in the other day for the first time and picked up a few singles. After talking with the husband of the coupe that owns it we decided to bring in my Greninja SIR today to trade towards some smaller cards. Both the husband and wife were there and they are incredibly welcoming and inviting (they even let my wife bring her bunny in the shop). Ended up trading the Greninja and walked out with a TON of cool cards! 100% making them my go to from here on out.

Excellent service. I had a set of pokemon decks I had purchased through a liquidation sale. Working with them we determined they were fake. These guys take the time to work with you. They are professional and very fun to work with.

What a fantastic shop! I went in for a birthday gift for my son one day and Michael answered all my questions and gave me suggestions. Turns out it was exactly what my son wanted. They’re incredibly helpful, genuine, and patient and care a lot about what they offer and its shows. It’s our favorite local shop! Thanks y’all.

About two months ago I went into the store for the first time. He was currently rebuilding due to water damage and didn’t have much available. I saw a card I loved and had been searching for and bought it without doing my due diligence. A found out recently it was fake and was able to replace it with a real card pretty quickly. I took them both in and spoke with scruffy about it, not looking for anything out of him but just to make him aware. He would not let me leave without making it right. I told him I didn’t want anything but he insisted and I ended up finding an another card I had been wanting. It was $10 more than the original and I had told him I wanted to pay the difference and he said not to worry about it. I felt bad because again I didn’t want anything more than to educate so I talked him into letting me pay the difference. It was a great and respectful interaction and I hope to have more in the future.
