Rook Room Game Lounge & Cafe

I wish I was here under less unfortunate circumstances but I am so glad I decided to come to Rook Room! The staff were all very kind and attentive. I really can’t stress enough how nice and welcoming everyone is. They are ready to answer any questions you may have or offer recommendations (in my case I was here alone and they offered to recommend single player board games if needed). It is very clean and comfortable. When I went in there were several groups of people either playing games or just hanging out. Very inclusive 🥰 Also it’s just cute in here! Every table has a little rook stand with all the information you need (menu, wifi, service/help bell, little signs indicating if you’re looking for other players to play with). Food options are more simple but I was fully satisfied with my bacon melt in terms of portion size and taste. Will definitely try to stop by when I am in town again! Thank you for having me 😊

This place was amazing. Great selection of games. Food and drinks were also great. Would definitely go here again.

I like all space so it’s not too loud. They also have many game options and it’s very laid back. My favorite was ordering on the toast app for food, you don’t have to talk to a waiter or anything; plus the food and drinks were bomb!! They had a grilled cheese with sweet chili sauce on it and it was delicious.

Really fun atmosphere with an incredible selection of games. We were there for trivia night and had so much fun. Really good food and an awesome beer selection. Awesome and friendly staff

Food is incredibly reasonably priced, I was genuinely in awe when I ordered. I had a meal with a soda for $6. They have free wifi, a beautiful interior with plenty of seating, and a very impressive selection of board/card games. There is free two hour parking right outside which is insanely convenient in Des Moines. I would highly recommend.
