Nexus Game Lounge - Denton

Rating strictly for TCG: Place is nice and overall has nice employees; however, from a TCG Player point of view it isn’t the best place to play at. Attended a One Piece tournament that had 21 players that should of went for 4 rounds (or 1 undefeated) however we cut the tournament early due to unknown reasons (I believe the guy just didn’t want to stay late but it was only 8pm) which also prevent players to possibly earn an additional pack or XP (their version of store credit). I also am not a big fan of them not having readily available singles to look through or at least a singles case. They opt for a fully online platform which doesn’t have many selections in the first place. I believe this is due to their policy of if you are wanting to sell/trade cards to them, they charge the Customer an appraisal fee of $15 (more if you have a stack of a 100 and more cards). The appraisal can take 24 hours to a full week to get a quote, and you only get the appraisal fee back if you accept their offer. Im not a fan of this and the long turn around time, and I can see this turning a lot of people away. Lastly, their TCG membership is EXPENSIVE. I’m not a fan of rewarding people who have the cash to spend $100/momth for a membership instead of people who consistently come in their store to play, but that’s my opinion. I guess I would like to see them come down on that price if you consistently show up for their tournaments (rewarding the players). I’ll still come from time to time to see if there any improvements on the TCG side, and will change my review score then if needed.

Booked a hosted room for Father's Day for me and my 5 kids. The environment was awesome, and Skyler, our DM, was as well! Skyler understood the mechanics of the game well, had a nice family-friendly story, and was able to balance a large range of personalities from an 8-year-old who loves to speak her mind, to another kiddo who is super shy and mostly had to speak through his dad! We all had a great time, and I highly recommend if you're interested in renting a room for some gaming!

It's a nice place with friendly staff who can teach you how to play alot of the games they have! It has cool decor and there's actually 2 buildings in the mall, one I show in the photos and then theres another one across from the one that was shown in the photos I took, I suggest you check them out! They also sell cards, games, and more.

Nexus has been an incredibly welcoming store for the Digimon community! We came in from another store with low expectations and this store is honestly a dream. Good prices, comfortable chairs, the perfect blend of store and playing space. The store initially didn't have product or promos for us but took very fast effort to get us product and promos so we could run tournaments on saturday mornings. We've been treated incredibly well and it's very refreshing for a store to treat a smaller community with open arms!

Super comfortable space that perfectly strikes the balance between being an event-oriented third space that prioritizes comfort and accommodation, and being a comprehensive storefront for everything nerd that the mall has crucially been missing. Excellent, super kind people who are genuinely so excited about the community, and I absolutely share their sentiment!! Went to the game show night this past Friday and they’re authentic and candid in a way that really makes experiences feel meaningful. Beautiful stuff.
