Mythic Games - Santa Cruz

Service from the man at the front was great. I got an MTG commander deck from them for $60 which I could have checked the price online but this store shouldn’t be charging for nearly DOUBLE the price other stores ask. That is an insane markup I don’t believe they have any business from knowledgeable players as only a newcomer could get tricked into buying at this price like me. Over all this location will NOT have my business again.

Everything seems nice and there is a large space, guy behind the counter was very nice. Very little tcg outside of Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic. Only have sealed pokemon, no singles or trade in for it

Honestly if you’re looking for Pokemon don’t call. I called just to see if they’d haven any had any booster boxes and the gentleman who answered the phone seemed so annoyed and bothered by the question. I honestly couldn’t even finish the question before he starts going, “Nope no Pokemon, none at all” and then when I tried to ask if they possibly knew of anywhere else all he could say was “I’m sure everywhere in the world is out of Pokemon”, honestly glad I never stepped foot in the store

I would give Mythic games a zero if I could. Drove down an hour for a standard store champs, was the only one there. The employee told me that the event wasn't firing -which sucks, but fine. When I asked them what they were going to do with the promos, the staff was unsure and directed me to talk to the manager in the back. The manager was playing a game with some people-which again, fine on a slow day. What was not fine? He told me that he "was in the middle of something" and that "I should not talk to him." He paused and then actually sort of answered my question, informing me that the promos would be distributed at store's discretion on commander nights. Sorry store manager, for the deep inconvenience I caused you of asking about what would happen to promo cards that I was hoping to get a chance to play for. Foolish of me to assume that a game store would care about a customer driving an hour one way for an event that wound up not firing. Sure, you have limited control over turnout-but you definitely have control over whether or not you treat people like dirt.

Came into the store when it first opened years ago for MTG, and Scott, the manager, was so friendly and extremely helpful in all my needs. Years later, after leaving MTG, Scott encouraged me to give Warhammer40k a chance, telling me of its great gaming community and support the store has for the hobby. Now, 4 years into my newfound hobby, I’ve never been more happy to call this store my favorite gaming spot. Scott hosts an abundance of tournaments with generous prizes and deals for the local players, new and old. Whether you’re serious about the hobby or just inquiring while in the area, I cannot recommend this store enough. Great store and manager, and wonderful addition to the local gaming community.
