MOM N POP GAME SHOP

I am incredibly disappointed with my recent experience at this store, particularly with an employee or manager named Holly. While Pokemon is a trading card game, this store prohibits trading on its premises. This critical rule is not clearly posted or advertised, making the consequence of a permanent ban feel completely disproportionate and unfair. The lack of clear communication about this policy is a major issue for customers. This is especially confusing as the store hosts a "Trade Night" on Saturdays, yet trading is banned at any other time. I was permanently banned for simply trading cards with other players, which is upsetting, especially as a loyal customer. I understand if I were actively stifling their business by offering lower rates or engaging in disruptive behavior, but the cards I was trading were not of interest to the store itself, and I was trading/gifting to young trainers that did not have the money to spend on expensive cards. Furthermore, the decision to ban me in front of a crowd of customers felt like a deliberate attempt to maximize my embarrassment, which is unacceptable. I have spent a significant amount of money at this store, and the treatment I received from Holly was unacceptable. Frankly, even the younger employees I've interacted with here have shown more kindness and professionalism. This is especially jarring because, despite its "Mom N Pop" image, the store completely lacks the homey atmosphere it tries to convey. In addition to the poor customer service, the store's prices are extremely high. They charge based on TCG Player prices for bulk cards, which feels excessive. I hope management addresses these issues, particularly the contradictory policies, lack of clear rules, unprofessional conduct of staff, and the public humiliation tactics, to prevent other customers from having such a negative experience. Edit for response: Wow. What a way to ignore the majority of my review and not address anything. There was no “SELLING” done in your store, nor did my trading with other collectors affect your sales in any way, since the cards we were trading weren’t offered in your case. I think you are missing that this is a TRADING CARD GAME after all. We were told we needed to step outside to sell, but after being there for over an hour 1/2 conversing and getting along with players, we made a few trades, and had a good time. I was not told that I’d be banned until twenty minutes later as I tried to purchase some cards at the counter. If you are going to take such serious actions against traders, maybe you should consider printing out and displaying these rules/consequences so that the people inside can understand how serious this “policy” is. It’s extremely discriminatory, as someone with an obvious disability to have been banned for a small mistake, that even the other people I traded with misunderstood. I would’ve completely respected being asked to leave and told that you were not going to sell to me for the night, and let off with another warning; I even would’ve understood had I done this multiple times with the sign in my face. The choice to ban me in front of multiple other customers when I made a small mistake by misunderstanding these “rules” was extremely unprofessional, and so is your response.

Be sure to go alone if purchasing Pokémon, if you walk in with friends only one person out of the group will be able to purchase. That’s crazy! We just wanted to rip some packs together, I guess that won’t happen today. I’m disappointed

Loved my experience here! Having a shop that brings out the kid in me was what I needed. Loved seeing how they offer trade days, have old school Nintendo, and even manuals to the games from my childhood.

I use to think this was a cool place. But I go in there and Steve acts like the day I sold them something never happen. It’s funny how Jammie knew about that day but not him. And he was the one playing the system when I took it in. He was amazed how it was complete. I went in there to get my Wii complete set back because I wasn’t supposed to sell that one. I was supposed to sell them another Wii set but I mixed those up and sold the wrong one. He’s the owner of the shop he could have help me but he decided not to. Owners can take stuff off the system he just didn’t want to. And that is something I can’t understand I been going there for years. I first started going there back when they had the old shop. I thought they were friendly people. Well I know Jammie is friendly. She brings out what the shop should be like. They are so lucky to have her they have no idea. I like her. But today I saw a new side of Steve. One that just wasn’t him. He was so rude about not giving my system back. I would have gave him everything he paid me for it. And to tell the truth it hurts to be the one that gives a one star. Today was just bad. He treated me bad and that’s why I’m here.

I come just about every weekend and i always enjoy coming, holly the owner is always so friendly amd welcoming and ready to help with all my questions!! I have a hard time finding cool stuff here in texarkana but i have to say shes helped me find and get stuff that i was never able to find before!! Mom n pop is the best small owned game store in my opinion and if you have been om the fence, go check them out :)) they also do the best for trade ins!! Much better than any other store ive ever traded in.
