i am a yugioh player. i had quite the experience at kryptic. everyone was very “nice”, but for some reason folks called me a lot of names and had a lot of trouble understanding what i said without taking things very personally in response to their jabs. i wanted to spend all my tcg money here when possible because i like to support small businesses. i had actually heard some negative things about kryptic from tcg players previously, but i had assumed that folks were just being unkind towards nerdy spaces and i disregarded what i’d heard entirely. in my experience i learned exactly why folks had less-than positive things to say. the people may be nice, but they definitely do not consider kindness a positive trait. i was called chinese food, cringe, and all sorts of things. i took it in stride and playfully sent the energy back after about 8months feeling loyal to the shop despite it all, and then they banned me. now looking back, i can say it was quite a hostile experience, and i’m not quite sure why. i will unfortunately have to spend my money at big tcg until i get settled into another shop. i’d held off purchasing more dragonshield from other locations until some time had passed where the unsettling vibe wore off so i could purchase more card sleeves at “my ygo shop”. i am fairly optimistic, overly positive, and can be quite oblivious. i never really understood the jokes people make about ygo players, but those jokes unfortunately rang true at kryptic collections. i was disappointed i spent 8 months speaking positively and admiring folks at the shop and consistently being on the receiving end of their antagonism until eventually being banned with no effort on others’ end to recognize their hostility or reframe their perspectives to interpret me and my words in their correct intent. you have to be a very specific type of ygo player to be welcomed here. unfortunately, with hindsight i can say this shop was unwelcoming. its all love though, and i wish them the best in all their endeavors. i can understand that hurt people hurt people, though that may be something they need more time to discover. ***i forgot to mention, one staff member starts interactions by saying things like “why are you here”. there are many incidents i can recount, but i have no intention to list them. clarifying this one piece so folks can see how these behaviors are protected at my expense.

Love this place! I feel like I always pop up on the wrong day 😅 but everyone is always so nice and accommodating. Big or small, I never leave without something to add to my collection.

First time at Kryptic today. Cool staff, nice setting and very organized. The store itself and products are great. My experience however was subpar. I was browsing singles when I came across a dark blastoise I wanted to take home. We were set on the sale but their wifi was down. No worries. I wait for around 10-15 minutes and then I get told I cant have it because it “Sold online the day before.” I felt like my time was wasted and it should've been off the shelf but no worries, stuff happens. I came across another card I wanted to take home. 151 Blastoise with very light play on 3/4 corners and small slight print lines down the center. I asked if I could pay $90 (which is above market for lightly played). I was debated, told the damage wasn’t enough for them to consider it LP, and won’t take less than $95 because it’s “near mint.” On my way out, I noticed a few other card conditions improperly marked one condition above what it should be. If you come here for singles, it is imperative to check the condition of their cards and assess proper value before purchasing. I work hard for my money so I was slightly upset I couldn’t pay proper value for a product I wanted. I wanted to purchase more, but this sample of service led me to want to conclude my visit. Other than my negative experience, the store was very clean and organized. Will stop in one more time when owner is there in hopes for a more positive experience. I still do recommend this store.

Absolutely love this place!! The vibes at this shop is chill. They are the most organized shop I've ever been to! They have a iPad that have records of some of their inventory which i found to be quite unique and awesome! As someone who loves going through bulk and they had just the thing. The staff was super chill, the shop was super clean. The place, is unfortunately about an 1 hour and some change away from me but damn I am def making the trip back for my yugioh needs. This shop had the ff7 precon i wanted! So 100% worth the drive! Wish LGS's near me were like them!
