Hobbytown Wichita

Kinda disappointed with the lack of selection of model kits and model train equipment. I understand that their move had to condense their inventory but I feel Warhammer and rc vehicles doesn't round out hobbytown usa feel.

I drove over to Hobby Town to pick up what I consider essential material. Tamiya paint. I wasn’t looking for some exotic color, I needed XF-2 flat white. How does a hobby shop with a computer controlled inventory run out of flat white? This is not the first time inventory has failed me. When I asked the first time this happened, I was told, “Well the person that does the ordering has been absent.” Really? Only one person in the entire store knows how to order paint. Hmm. The scale model section is slowly shrinking. I get the feeling model kits are not of interest to Hobby Town. Too bad. I will have to shop on line. Otherwise, I won’t make a special trip to Hobby Town.

VERY disappointed I use to go there five to six times a month when Ken ran it the model Kit and paints was well stocked all the time . New location and owner don’t care for the model Kit people it all about RC . every time I’m up there and I ask it’s constant excuses. I am not wasting my time anymore for a hobby shop that we have in town. They should be well catered to everybody and it’s catered to nothing but RC very disappointing to a place that I’ve been shopping since 1993 . I will not waste my gas in time driving to the east side. I will just order online.

I really like the products this store carries, but the customer experience has been consistently disappointing. During one visit, a situation escalated over what seemed like a simple misunderstanding, and it was handled in a way that felt unnecessarily aggressive. What stood out most was the apparent use of customer payment information to look up personal or family details and then reference them during a confrontation. That kind of behavior feels like a major breach of trust and is completely inappropriate. On multiple occasions, staff have also come across as rude or abrasive, which seems to line up with what others have mentioned in reviews. Professional boundaries and respectful communication with customers should be a priority, and that hasn’t been my experience here. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, because the store itself has a lot of potential.

HobbyTown is such a fun place if you’re into hobbies or just like exploring new projects. They have all kinds of stuff RC cars, drones, model kits, board games, and even craft supplies. One thing I really love is their ready to go 3D printer filament, which makes grabbing materials for my prints super easy. The staff is friendly and helpful, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been into hobbies for years. The store is easy to navigate, and there’s always something cool to check out if you like discovering new projects or ideas. Overall, it’s a solid spot for RC cars, 3D printing filament, model building, or just picking up something fun to do. I always enjoy browsing here and finding new things for my hobbies.
