GameStop - 5840 - SWM Plaza Peru

Went to go at 6pm on a Saturday. Says open until 9pm. The store is shut down for the day, no note or anything at Peru, IL store.

Pre ordered the new pokemon set so I could get the exclusive promo pokemon card. I went to pick up my order and wait in line for the midnight release. Conveniently they had no idea where the promo cards went. They are definitely backdooring them which is a shame. GameStop midnight releases used to be a thing of beauty. I refunded my preorder and won’t be wasting my time with this location ever again.

I have bought several non working "certified games" from this location. Each time it's not their fault it's gotta be my PlayStation. Then I'm charged more to get another copy sent to me for it to come 4 days late. Y'all need to do better! And maybe take a shower.

My husband stood outside since 10am for the new Pokemon release and a guy who parked next to me at around 1115 has been in and out and my husband is still outside waiting at 1140. He's disabled. He has the GameStop rewards which he is at top tier and he spends a lot of money with you guys. You all need to figure out a better system. That was not cool.

I rarely leave reviews on places anymore but this experience made me slip on the Karen shoes and go to the internet to air my grievances. There’s a new game that just came out today so I went into GameStop to try and support the dying business that is physical game media, then was immediately hit with one of the rudest and snarkiest people I’ve recently met. I tried walking to the PS5 games and was asked “hey what can we help you with” in a friendly but rude way by this bigger guy in a grey shirt w a beard and a gold name tag saying “team lead” called Jeremy or something like that, so I asked if they had the game I was looking for and I got pretty quickly interrogated about if I reserved it in a condescending tone. When I explained that I had not but was just seeing if they had one he almost cut me off saying “well this game came in under the radar and they only sent me the reservations… next time if you want the game simply throw $5 in and you’ll get it day one” in the same condescending belittling tone as earlier. I simply asked if a GAME store had a GAME and got my head “politely” bit off. it wasn’t what he said it was just how he said it, I completely understand the idea of pre ordering games but I shouldn’t have felt scrutinized for just trying to buy a game… attached is a picture of the same game at Walmart, which I purchased there (and they had multiple copies), how it was too under the radar for GameStop but not Walmart is beyond me but y’all definitely need to re-assess the higher management there. The last time I went in there was someone who I had a great experience with but Jeremy or whatever that airheads name is completely spoiled it
