GameStop - 5240 - Riverbend Center

Dude, this GameStop is terrible. Don’t come here the manager is so arrogant bought my console brand new never smoked or vape anywhere near it and he said he could not buy my console because it smelled like cigarettes and he trashed the local game store and try to send me to. I’m assuming his friends in Cartersville. This is the worst GameStop I’ve ever been to. It seems like they just don’t wanna work. They just come up with excuses to not do work.

Today at approximately 4:10 PM, I arrived at the Rome, GA GameStop as the manager and another employee were returning from break. They were a good distance ahead of me walking toward the entrance. The manager unlocked the door to go inside, and by the time I caught up, my hand was already on the door to enter. As I reached for it, the manager looked directly at me, locked the door in my face, and simply stared at me without saying a word. I asked, "Are y'all open?" He continued staring at me without responding or offering any explanation. He remained silent until I eventually walked away. If the store was still closed, a simple "We'll be open in a few minutes" would have been appreciated. Instead, I was left standing there with no explanation, which I found to be very rude and unprofessional. This is not the first negative interaction I've had with this manager at this location, normally I don't leave reviews.. but I am after this experience. I felt it was important to report this experience.

Tried to preorder the pitch black ETB and was told that since I am not a pro member, I had to pay full price for the box upfront. Never had this kind of service at other GameStop's. Also, every time I went in there the girl behind the desk would have to call someone just to ask about a sale as if she didn't know how to perform the job. They also didn't allow customers to come to the release of chaos rising to buy any product unless you preordered. This wasn't the case with the GameStop an hour south in Dallas. They gladly accepted our business. I won't step foot back in GameStop in Rome Georgia until they treat everyone fairly.

This place has gone in the gutter since the last manager left a few years ago. The manager that is always there now is absolutely terrible, and makes it the most unwelcoming store you’ll ever step into. He doesn’t like answering questions, and he will make up excuses not to accept perfectly good trades. Don’t worry, it’s not like you’re missing much by going here. The shelves are mostly bare, and I’m not just talking about the video game selection, but the accessories too. If there IS an item on the rack, it’s the only one. Where were the window advertisements for the upcoming releases.. or anything at all? We actually passed the store the first time because there were no advertisements on the front of it. This was like walking into a Radio Shack in its dying days. Absolute nightmare and horrible staff that will treat you like dirt with a grin on their face. I will NEVER step foot in this store again.

One extra star because they had a good price on Battlefield 6. However, the interaction with the employees was definitely sub-par. The entire conversation felt very forced and like I was disrupting them by purchasing something from their store. That vibe of I wasn’t “cool enough for them.” I won’t be going back. It’s unfortunate because I want to support physical game retailers still in 2026.
