I’m writing this review because my experience at this GameStop location this morning was extremely disappointing, especially as someone who has always supported GameStop and this particular store. I arrived early this morning for the NFL card release after being told about it by friends, hoping to purchase some for my husband. I was informed that there was a limit of five per customer, though no signage was present stating that. While I was waiting, I witnessed the store manager, Ashley, have an unnecessarily hostile interaction with a customer who had arrived before me. She stated that she was frustrated that he had been outside the store at 6 a.m. and accused him of harassing her associates. From what I personally observed, that was not what was happening, and the accusation seemed completely unwarranted. After he left the store, Ashley looked at me and asked if we were together. I explained that we were not. I found the question inappropriate and uncomfortable, particularly because there had been no interaction between us that would have reasonably suggested we were together other than being outside of the door during opening. She then proceeded to speak negatively about the customer who had just left while I was still standing there waiting to complete my purchase. The entire interaction made what should have been a simple and exciting shopping experience very uncomfortable. As a longtime GameStop customer, I expect employees—especially store management—to treat customers with professionalism, respect, and courtesy, even when situations are frustrating. I have always had positive experiences at this location, particularly when John was the store manager. He genuinely knew how to engage with customers and created an environment that made people want to come back. Unfortunately, my experience with Ashley was the complete opposite. I hope GameStop takes the time to review what happened and addresses the way customers are being treated at this location. I would hate for one manager’s approach to negatively affect the reputation of a store that I have otherwise enjoyed supporting.

I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at this GameStop, specifically from the store manager, Ashley. I called ahead because I was coming from DeFuniak Springs, over an hour away, looking for the newly released NFL Topps cards. Ashley told me they had six left. I asked if I could purchase all six, and she explained the limit was five but said she would sell me all six since that was all they had remaining. I specifically told her I was on my way and asked if she could please set them aside for me. She told me, “Yes, absolutely.” I even let her know I was about 20 minutes away at that point. After making the drive, I arrived only to have Ashley tell me she had just sold all six. When I reminded her that she had specifically agreed to put them aside for me, her response was essentially that she no longer had them and she was sorry. That is incredibly unprofessional and frustrating. Had she told me over the phone that they could not hold merchandise, I would have completely understood and saved myself the drive. Instead, I was explicitly told the items would be set aside for me, only to arrive and discover they had been sold to someone else. I will absolutely be contacting corporate regarding how this was handled. For anyone considering this location, based on my experience, I would recommend making the drive to the Crestview GameStop instead. I have received top-tier customer service there and have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism. When a customer is driving over an hour based on what your store manager personally told them, your word should mean something. This entire situation could have been avoided with basic communication and professionalism.

Just wanted to give a huge shoutout to the man working at GameStop today around 5 pm on July 2nd (can’t remember the name). For his respectfulness and interaction with me and my service dog. I don’t see or experience that very often. This Game Stop worker this day saw me with my service dog, politely glanced then ignored. But not ignored rudely, he focused on me as a customer. Didn’t avoid me and never tried distracting my SD or ask personal questions. Truly a breath of fresh air. I know my SD is beautiful and we both love the quick compliments or questions. But not extra, unnecessary, judgemental, or hyper attention to us. As you never know what kind of day I’m having or if at any moment it changes. He Maintained arm length space while helping us. He looked at me and talked to me even with questions and compliments towards my service dog. He said your dog is beautiful without changing his tone of voice. He asked if he could move in front of us to grab an item and I said yes of course. He said I was just making sure just wanted to respect your space. At the counter when checking out he asked what her name was. I told him and he said that’s a good name. Never leaned over the counter to talk to her or repeat her name back to her like many have done in the past. Not understanding this causes reactions out of them, I thanked him for the encounter and told him not many people know how to behave, act, or speak around service dogs. He said he has friends with service dogs so he understands and has learned a lot. This also shows me that these friends of his with service dogs properly educated and/or has experienced situations themselves, or even witnessed situations at times. He was also kind, polite, and patient. Just thought shoutout is deserved! I’ve had so many bad experiences with businesses or the general public. With the lack of knowledge, wrongfully being denied service, or people not understanding boundaries. I’ll preface with saying I don’t expect people to stay out of my way but to respect basic boundaries. And this was the first time in a very long time where I left somewhere smiling and impressed telling my husband “I wish every public encounter was like this, that’s how it should be”. I understand there are so many that fake service dogs and/or claim their dog to be one that isn’t fully or properly trained. That causes public distrust and speculation. & you can typically tell the difference. And so many people that have the love for and obsession with dogs. But don’t fully grasp the gravity and difference between a pet and service dog. Yes Service Dogs are very well trained at the end of the day but there not robots. Meaning staring into their eyes, making kissing noises at them, crouching down or approaching them, speaking to them or at them with a baby voice, reaching to pet, and even asking what there name is then when told repeating it to them…. Saying “oh hey *name here* aren’t you so cute” as an example. This happens to me EVERYWHERE I GO. As they should and typically do ignore it, it still causes distraction and even could cause more anxiety/interfere with their attention or cause unneccesary stress for a Service Dog or handler. It’s like dangling a persons favorite food that is starving in front of there face. The negative encounters has prevented me trying to go to new places or certain places. And even the general public that doesn’t mean harm purposely but does at the end of the day. Making compliments or asking questions is totally fine as long as it’s directed to me. It’s just a lot of people think there is no harm in trying to engage, baby talk, or entice my SD unintentionally & sometimes even intentionally. I understand a lot of people love dogs but I wish people were more like this Game stop worker. I’m a human being at the end of the day with a service dog for my medical conditions. You can admire from a far or speak to me like a human being, while having self control & ignoring the SD at the same time. I can’t give this worker enough credit. So thank you!

I was in there for Pokemon cards and noticed them selling items for 2x the price of everywhere else on a release day drop. There was an old lady there buying cards for her grandchildren and she asked them if the price is correct because it seems a little more than what she normally pays and the worker lied and told her that “it is close to MSRP” which convinced her to buy it. She ended up paying $13/pack for a box with 10 packs in it. Anyone else would have googled the item and see its clearly double the price. I feel bad that they are taking advantage of the elderly that is just trying to do something nice for their grandbabies.
