Athoria Games Tempe

At first I used to only shop at games workshop until I gave Athoria a try ever since than it has been my only shop for games workshop items. The Friday night 40K group are awesome and really helped me progress in the hobby providing many tips and helpful insight. Overall the community is wonderful and the employees in the shop are amazing plus the manager Brendan is a wonderful guy. I will always recommend this shop to my friends and will be coming here indefinitely!!!

Was a neat little store if you're into Warhammer and the like. Came here because it's SEO lists it when looking for pokemon card shops. They did not have any singles on display, only sealed, priced 2x over MSRP, so they value all sealed at about $10 per pack. Since it's mostly a hobby store, I didn't want to give it a one star for the extremely overpriced sealed since they seem to really only offer pokemon because its hot right now.

Came here today for a gundam release event (st09). The event itself went pretty well and was organized enough, though the spacing was pretty tight. I had brought my friend who had started playing gundam last week so he was pretty excited to be doing an event already. The turnout was good, and the crowd was very nice/patient. After the event ended, my friend who had gotten the bye the last round asked to play me on more match. It was about 845pm. We were admittedly playing slow, as he is just learning the game. We were around 2 or 3 rounds from the game being done at 930pm. An employee came up and asked us to leave, because he needed to clean/close the store. The hours listed were 10pm, and the employee confirmed they were "open" until 10. He advised he had to vacuum and we could not continue our game. Even after I told him we were less than 5 minutes from being done, he insisted we pack up and leave. We spent hundreds of dollars here today. I will not be returning to this store based on this interaction.

So, after coming here for a few months I wanted to give a very in-depth review of this location. This place is awesome. They carry all sorts of games, tons of gaming supplies, paints, characters, dice, cards, Pokémon, and magic. They have plenty of other card games, unfortunately, cards are not my scene. What has kept me coming to this place (besides them having and or getting what I need) is the staff. The manager and the counter staff are amazing. I have learned so much from the vast knowledge that they contain. I value their opinions and recommendations. I feel extremely comfortable saying that they have my best interests in mind and are not just chasing my money. When I need to get away from real life I come to the shop and play a game using their amazing tables and terrain set ups. Sometimes I go just to have some knowledgeable and nice people to talk to. If you havnt visited do so. You will recieve some of the finest customer service around.

This store location was my old stomping grounds. Many great memories. After a decade of being out of the hobby, the staff welcomed me as if I had never been gone. Excellent stock of GW, Battle Tech, Hero Clix, board games, paint and a wall full of D and S miniatures. Hobby night is the best. If you are looking for a great place with great vibes, this is the game store for you. Highly recommend.
