I'm a frequent Alamo customer and usually a big fan, but unfortunately had a pretty hostile experience with a front desk employee today. I'm seven months pregnant and was waiting in the lobby for my husband. I needed to sit down due to some discomfort, but the booth in the waiting area was occupied. The adjacent café was closed and roped off, but because I needed to get off my feet, I took a seat at the high-top closest to the entrance, deliberately staying as close to the lobby as possible since I was conscious that the café was closed. An employee came over and told me I needed to move. Totally understandable. But when I explained that I was very pregnant and had just needed somewhere to sit, he gestured rudely (and sarcastically) toward the lobby bench, where one person of the couple who had been sitting there had just gotten up. I explained that the bench hadn't been available when I sat down, and he responded shortly, "There are benches downstairs." Again, I had no issue with being asked to move. It was the unnecessarily hostile way the interaction was handled, particularly after I explained why I'd sat there -- and I honestly didn't know there were benches downstairs. Even the couple sitting on the bench seemed taken aback by the exchange. So I waddled downstairs and found a bench to wait on. All in all, a buzz kill during what otherwise should have been a nice outing, and a disappointing experience at a place I normally really enjoy.

I've been to the Alamo in Brooklyn many times before and I love it. I always get their popcorn because its always fresh and hot, with perfect amount of butter. Today I went to see Spiderman at the 2:15 showing and I got the same thing as well. The popcorn was fairly cold, and it had a bitter/burnt taste to it. I tried to get past it, but I tried to ask for another one. Unfortunately the next one wasn't any better either. But when I went home, I had severe food poisoning and was profusely throwing up popcorn kernels when I got home. I'm so disappointed overall, and had high expectations. If I ever come back to this location, I wouldn't get any of the food here. So disappointed 😞

This is a great little movie theatre, hidden away in the bottom of a shopping mall downtown. The seats were super comfortable and the food was nice. It has really cool decor in the lobby!

I’ve been coming to Alma Lower Manhattan Cinemas several times a year, and unfortunately the food quality seems to have changed recently. During our latest visit while watching The Mandalorian & Grogu, nearly everything we ordered was overwhelmingly salty. The Carnivore pizza was extremely salty, the jumbo mozzarella sticks were also very salty, and even the salsa seemed overloaded with salt. That said, the milkshake was fantastic. The theater experience itself was still enjoyable, but the food definitely needs improvement compared to how it used to be.

What happened? Ever since Sony bought the Alamo drafthouse, the experience declined. I remember enjoying the employees coming up to you and writing down your order. You felt good and enjoyed decent food despite the prices. Now you sit down and theres a QR code to scan. No more menus, no more employees asking if you'd like to order something. You have to do it on the phone and the food quality, portions have declined. The experience is dead and to order stuff during a movie requiring to use my phonr defeats the purpose of no phones during the movie. Who thought this was good idea? Oh right corporations who maximize profits and shareholders pockets instead of the consumer or good customers. Sorry to the people who work at Alamo, you guys are great and have been helpful to me many times. I was even rooting for you guys during the strike. I hope things turn out for the better.
