I headed into Vagabond Takapuna Wednesday just gone to browse some 40K model painting supplies as I am looking to get into the hobby. The staff member working was incredibly knowledgable and generous with their time which was a huge help to me. I will definitely be a return customer.

I think that after reading people's take or experience of the place that any of the negative reviews must've been because of a different day or a staff member not having their caffeine kick in yet. ...But I had no issue whatsoever for my first time rocking up. Here's my take: FOH was friendly and willing to help, and despite a small store in comparison to what I'm used to with other outlets, it had a good variety of cards and a reasonable selection of Funko POP! Vinyl figures. (Note: The Funko are a few dollars pricier, but in saying that, they had a selection that day that wasn't as mainstream as what EB Games had, so it evens out). Good variety of board games from what I saw, too. Given I'm up this away again, yeah, I'd revisit. It's good as well if you're an collector/long-term investor type looking for specifics.

Lorwyn pre release was run at a mediocre level, they let more people in than product was available causing delays while we all waited for more to be shipped up, Bonus pack was given at the start? It's been a while but this was not the case last time for me, winning yielded no reward and I could of just taken the pre release pack and walked away, The round pairings were posted on a small TV, probably the worlds most dim screen at an angle you couldn't see past the glare, so if you missed the names best hope your opponent is calling you, The timer after game 1 ran -10 min late plus some, we were left waiting a while, After the second round match finishing we all stood around about 15 of us, waiting for final pair before event finish but they made us wait another -15min before shyly saying they are closed, why make us wait for such disappointment, if we know the event runs late why not start early or prepare to work late?! This is surely not your first rodeo. Rest assured will not be returning for such events even though slightly cheaper than the other locations.

The place is beautiful and has a great variety of boardgames of different types! Staff is always nice and I love browsing the store. The store also provides different kinds of merch articles which is a nice add on to board games, Warhammer and D&D dices and books.
