Visited a couple years ago, Nice shop layout but wasn't interested/knowledgable in Pokemon at all. I went again recently to see if it had changed but still doesn't stock singles.

Gateway Games Shop had exactly what I've been looking for a Birthday Present for my daughter. The owner/sales operator helped me by showing all the Backgammon Boards for sale, although the others were good I found the right one. If you're looking for Gaming products, this is the place in TAURANGA located in the Bethlehem shopping center. Also there's a large variety of paints, models etc. Recommended if looking for just the right thing for Games.

Do not shop here ever!! Bought a glass chess set with my daughter for which there was no display item in store so could only judge by the picture on the box. Got back to the car and opened the box in excitement to find poorly made chipped pieces with a scratched and blemished, uneven board. Not happy with the quality of the product went straight back into the store (5 minutes after the purchase) and explained that the quality was not what was expected and we would like to return the item. The lovely young girl at the counter was happy to do so but was then interrupted by another worker (I assume the owner) who said he would not allow refunds and said the only option was to replace. Explained again we were not happy to replace as the overall quality of the product was poor and has many minor defects therefore would prefer a refund to which he said they do not do refunds and are not obliged to. My daughter bought up the consumer guarantees act on her phone which stated that the consumer has a right to a repair, replacement, or REFUND if the product contains detects (even minor ones). He became aggressive and told my daughter she was wrong and continued to deny a refund and said the only other option was to exchange for something else in the store. She asked if he could show us in the consumers act where is states that he can refuse to refund to which he said no and became more aggressive making not only us, but his lovely co worker feel incredibly uncomfortable. Feeling defeated we looked around for something else in the store, found an item and took it to the counter to exchange, however as it was not the same value as the item we were returning he said we needed something of equal or greater value as he would not refund the remaining money. I said there is nothing else in the store that we wanted so he said that we would have to be issued store credit. Made the decision to get store credit for the entire amount as I could no longer stand dealing with such a horrible arrogant person. Has to be one of the worst shopping experiences ever. Sounds like a bit of a theme after reading other reviews.

My partner and I came in to have a look as we’ve seen this store in Bethlehem while browsing through other stores. Was curious to see, the staff had ask if we needed any help. Within 2 minutes of entering the store. We politely declined and said we were just looking. She proceeded to ask another worker to ask us again if we needed help. I explain we seen the store and was curious… mind you know one had been asked if they needed help. We continued to shop as we were looking closer to the counter both workers asked again if we were looking for anything in particular so we left, felt absolutely ashamed and made me feel unwelcomed definitely won’t be coming back! Discrimination at its finest…..
