Staff in Incredible Comics spoke to me in an aggressive & sarcastic tone, all because I also wanted to check the comic prices as he was pricing them up at the till via eBay listed prices & taking ages for the 8 comic book back issues or so and 3 new releases. I told him I’m not happy with service and then the young female got very rude and aggressive. I asked her to not get involved as she is escalating the issue between me and the owner and as we are men, having a female jumping in with an aggressive tone, would not help issue. She then ran and got security and tried to emphasise that I am sexist among other things. At which point I made her aware I am recording and was only asking her to stay out of dispute between customer and owner, regardless of her being underneath him as a manager. I feel my race may have caused the rude comments that started this whole discussion of “if you don’t like the price you can leave” repeatedly as I said I will also check the prices since I had like 10 comic books and it was taking him longer than I really wanted, so thought I may as well check the prices as well. I believe the owner realised that he said “if you can buy them for less I’ll honor that price” which is why I felt he had overpriced comics hoping I wouldn’t look on cover price or the same place he was looking eBay & this is why he got aggressive, frustrated and was trying to tell me that if I don’t like prices I don’t buy, which as a customer is an obvious thought when entering any shop. You don’t have to buy if the price isn’t right. Although I decided to not buy any comics as the attitude, rudeness and customer service was terrible. Even when I mentioned that the lies are not washing like reform parties lies never washed at their second march last month and owner laughed and said “you think, I’m not even going to say anymore you will see” which also made me feel like I was a one of the marches being told what Muslims do and who is British when I’m a black British Muslim. If you want to have an ease of buying and not feel judged, I recommend staying away from this comic book shop. If you want actual prices to not be judged for also checking prices stay away from Complaint made to Brunel Shopping Centre but not sure any punishment would be received.

Let's start with the positives here, and there is a lot to like about this place. Incredibly well stocked, and staffed by people willing to engage with the customers at their own level. It is easy to see why the place is so busy. Good to see a comic store doing so well when some other high street retailers are literally dying on their feet. There was an extensive range of comic back issues available, and it was in these that I felt the store fell a little short for me. They were jammed into their boxes so tightly that any casual flick through from front to back became all but impossible. Each issue needed to be removed from the box individually to view. Also some of the comic boxes at the back of the store were leading a double life as a shelf for some of the toy range, rendering part of the already difficult to browse back issues completely inaccessible. I would be back without hesitation, but a few little tweaks here and there would make this already good store a great destination.

rather go here and spend money than use a company that uses AI good selection of cards and comics. Owner John is cool and told me to avoid other shops due to their pricing being incorrect. He recommended 2 more shops to go to in Swandon

A really strange experience. None of the comics in the long boxes are priced, which immediately makes browsing frustrating. When I took a couple of books to the till, the staff literally looked up eBay listings while I stood there and then priced the comics based on what they found online. The staff weren’t helpful, and when I queried the system it was treated as if this was completely normal practice. I’ve visited countless comic shops over the years and have never seen one operate like this. It completely takes the fun out of rooting through long boxes, which is supposed to be part of the joy of visiting a comic shop. Very odd experience — I won’t be returning.
