Brown Bear Games

Visit a lot of TCGs, unfortunately a few in this area are not up to standards, but this is NOT one of them. This is one of my favourites to go to for a look, to trade and buy. Staff are always great and Rich is always lovely too. They’re always happy to chat, have a laugh and look at what I have for trade even if it isn’t anything special and they offer fair prices. I do wish they space was a bit bigger, but I appreciate that’s not necessarily an easy solution.

Rich and Staff are wonderful and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve always had fair trade prices including on my modern which lets me get some cool vintage stuff that’s hard to find elsewhere. For new releases the till membership system means I can get access to preorders as a local, in a time where getting Pokemon product is exceptionally hard due to scalpers this is highly appreciated. The play space upstairs for locals is great too and good fun on a Sunday. Best card shop in Newport by far and I would recommend.

I first visited Brown Bear Games back in July 2025 to trade in some of my old cards. I had been out of the hobby for a while and wanted to get my hands on some of the newer cards for my collection. I was greeted by the owner as I entered the store, and he was very helpful in explaining how they price the cards. They gave me much more than I expected for the cards I traded in, as majority were MP, if not worse. It was a great experience, and I have been back multiple times since, for pokemon cards and other bits (board games). The staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful.

THE go-to local TCG shop based in Newport. Always full of amazing pick ups from small cards to big hitting SIRs. Never had a bad experience or come away empty handed (RIP wallet). Staff and owner always thinking how to do best by customers and the TCG fans/players. 10/10

Great atmosphere, wide collection of cards for good prices. Shop keepers are always polite and are great to talk to about cards and tcg. They have a great trade in percentage on cards and always have been fair when I've traded in some of my collection. Being local to such a great shop made it easy to start collecting properly.
