Board Game Cafe Hastings - Smugglers Meeple

My son and I love the board game cafe! The selection of games is epic and the people are so friendly and knowledgeable. Their pizzas are great and fries are very yummy and so generous. But really it is the atmosphere that keeps us coming back. The place and its people exude kindness and charm and whether you catch a quiet time or the place is full there is a joy you feel right down to your bones!

Took a detour into the cafe for a quick break but we ended up staying nearly 5 hours and left with a box of Riftbound Proving Grounds (very lucky since there was only two left and the sets are hard to get a hold of!) Great selection of board games, cosy interior and good selections of food and drinks. Gary was absolutely brilliant and introduced us to the game. He was friendly and very patient with us, explaining the rules and even letting us play with his decks. We really enjoyed the game (still a lot to learn) and have been playing it at home and watching tutorials. (One week later update: just bought a booster box of Unleashed to start building our own decks!) We were visiting Hastings for the weekend but Gary and his genuine love for the game and community was easily the highlight of our trip. We left the cafe in really high spirits after. We were even gifted some extra cards from his collection, promo packs and some freebies with our purchases, honestly we were spoiled! But the care didn’t stop with us, every customer that came in was shown the same welcome and warmth. A great atmosphere in the cafe. Also the freshly made chips were delicious, they had a good crunch and seasoning to them. Highly recommend a visit!

Very chill atmosphere amongst the board games. Friendly staff and decent coffee. I've not played a game there yet as only been in alone. Large selection of games that they are willing to chat to you about. Will be bringing friends next time to get a game together.

Fantastic board game cafe with a great selection of games! Sean (sp?) was super helpful and welcoming! We brought our little pup and she snoozed under the table peacefully. Great atmosphere, music level was perfect—would come back again!!

Beautiful small café, with great food, wonderful staff, reasonable prices and an amazing atmosphere. I will definitely come again.
