Spacious, well-kept, and wonderfully organized! They have some great perks here, like a free cafe drink when you buy the Book of the Month. The staff went above and beyond during our visit, when we used a BOGO 50% off deal, they offered to apply the 50% discount to a third book by a local writer.

Wonderful kids section with great staff! They were extremely helpful in finding a book for my daughter. The kids wanted me to read it to them every nights the last week. Will definitely come back when in Cambridge.

As a book lover, the Sidney Street Waterstones is a haven of sheer scale and possibility. While it may lack the hallowed, academic gravity of Blackwell's, it compensates with vibrant energy and astonishing breadth across its multiple floors. This is a bookshop built for getting lost in, where deep academic sections on history and philosophy sit comfortably beside towering fiction displays and a superb children's department. The true pleasure lies in the curated discovery. Tables are thoughtfully stacked with staff picks and thematic collections, making it easy to stumble upon your next favourite read. The top-floor cafe, with its views over Cambridge rooftops, is the perfect finale—a place to settle with your new purchases. My advice is to allocate real time here. Start at the top with a coffee to plan your descent, then work your way down through the specialised floors. Engage with the staff; their passion is evident and their recommendations are gold. For the complete Cambridge literary pilgrimage, this Waterstones is the essential modern counterpart to the historic giants nearby. It proves that a large chain store, when executed with this level of care and intelligence, can be just as soulful as any independent. Come for the sheer volume of choice, but stay for the joy of seeing a city's reading heart beat so powerfully.

This is an absolutely incredible bookshop. It has four floors and each floor is really spacious, making browsing really easy, even when the shop is busy. There are two cafes inside the shop; one on the ground floor and one on the second floor. The cafe on the ground floor is the smaller of the two and closes earlier than the actual bookshop closes. The cafe on the second floor is much bigger, with plenty of seats, and has longer opening hours (I think it closes at the same time as the bookshop, but I'm not sure). The staff are friendly and helpful, and have always been happy to help me whenever I've needed assistance. The staff usually open more tills when the shop gets busy, so I've always been served pretty quickly. I love visiting this shop whether I'm looking for a book, or just browsing for fun. I can easily lose track of time and spend hours in here, without even realising! Highly recommended!
