Disney Lorcana

Although the building was originally built in 1703, and know as Sackville Cottage (after the famous Sackville/Delaware Family) It wasn’t until the late 1970’s that the property officially became ‘Pooh Corner’. Founder, Mike Ridley and his wife June created the gift and tea shop in 1978, a year earlier having used his skills as a potter to manufacture Winnie-the-Pooh ceramics under licence from Disney – with whom he eventually held a licence for over 10 years and met Christopher Milne on a number of occasions as Christopher looked back with fond memories of the property in his book The Enchanted Place. “Subsequent trips included our weekly visit to Hartfield, a mile away along a main road, up a steep hill, down a steep hill and in at the first shop on the left hand side. Jessica (his donkey) needed no urging and the woman behind the counter no instructions. It was a pennyworth of Bullseyes for each of us.” Christopher Milne from The Enchanted Places As of January 25th 2019, the property was purchased by current owner’s Neil and Samantha Reed who saved the business from closure and brought a focus on ensuring the work of their predecessor Mike was respected and built upon whilst appreciating the importance of adding new parts to the puzzle including a museum and a focus on A.A. Milne and E.H.Shepard. Ensuring their tenure at the property adds an educational value for the community and worldwide fans alike. Pooh Corner has now become a worldwide phenomenon with over 150,000 visitors a year. This, together with social media posts reaching 3million + on some occasions thanks to an active social visitor base and products that drive traffic due to it's efforts with Winnie the Pooh. In July we are launching a book at Pooh Corner with DK Publishing and Disney at Pooh Corner by bringing some of the leading WtP vloggers together in one space. This sets a new level of access to those who lead the social sphere with Winnie the Pooh and hope to build a local base of new and existing Lorcana players with evening and weekend events in the unique and exciting settings of Pooh Corner.

An enchanting little cafe / shop / museum dedicated to Winnie the Pooh. It is located in the village of Hartley, where the author grew up. This building was the real Christopher Robin's actual local shop. They serve lunches with hot and cold options, and the also offer afternoon teas, if you pre-book them minimum 72 hours in advance. They have a kids menu, including a special pooh bear sandwich where the bread is shaped as Pooh's head with his face embossed on it. My toddler chose a baked potato with cheese & baked beans, that was a hit, but it meant I couldn't take a photo of the infamous sandwich. I had a toastie, that was really lovely, served with a salad garnish & a few crisps (potato chips for our American friends). I had a flat white coffee which was also good. We shared a scone with clotted cream & strawberry jam between us. The scone was warm and rather yummy. The shop on site is small but has quite a lot to offer in terms of pooh bear merch and gifts you can buy. They have an online store too which has a lot more. The museum gives you some insight into the author and the history. If you have kids and theyre getting restless, you can walk down through the village to a play park, which is next to the tennis courts. You also have the option of going for a longer walk to the 'pooh sticks' bridge :) The village is a lovely place. Id recommend it for a good weather day. With regards to the bridge walk, its not suitable for people with limited mobility and not wheelchair friendly, as its part of a woodland thats been preserved in its original state, rather than buillding it into a theme park style tourist thing. Parking is also limited outside thePooh Corner shop/cafe. It sits on a busy road, so it might take you a while to find parking. The cafe is also very popular so be prepared to wait for a table. I recommend this place. I will bring my toddler back here again in future.

We had a lovely visit to Pooh Corner and would happily recommend it. The service was excellent from start to finish – friendly, welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed a Coronation Chicken Salad and a Greek Salad, both of which were fresh, generous in size and full of flavour. To drink, we had two peach iced teas and a strawberry milkshake, which was beautifully presented and delicious. We couldn't leave without trying a fruit scone with jam and cream, and it was the perfect way to finish our meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, even with our newborn in tow, making it a great place for families. Combined with the lovely Winnie-the-Pooh surroundings, it made for a really enjoyable visit. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.

We booked afternoon tea here about a month in advance. It's the cutest tearoom, shop, and museum completely devoted to our favorite bear and his friends. The food was excellent, although we wish there was honey for the tea!! A must for any Pooh fan! Please note that if you do the hike to the Pooh Sticks Bridge and other spots in the 100 Acre Wood, it is a HIKE. It was about 75 F and extremely humid when we went. We're a couple in decent shape pushing 40 and it was pretty rough coming back. But hey, that's not the shop's fault.

My sister and I took our grandma here for an afternoon tea. Now as someone who is very fussy with food, they accommodated this as much as possible but the food was tasty and very filling, impossible to finish it all. Was a wide range of teas available which was nice to see. Staff were friendly and helpful. The museum and shop I think let Pooh corner down. I feel there’s so much more that could be done and especially it being 100 years of Winnie the Pooh I feel there could be a lot more on offer at the shop.
