Excellent game store and games space with decent food options and nice toilet! Massive Warhammer/W40k/GW selection, plus other games - Battletech, Starwars Legion, Halo, multiple card games, some board and RPG/D&D stock, lots of paint and hobby stock as well. Great game space with plenty of elbow room and tables, and with three pubs/diners on the block. Access via canal side of the estate - enter the estate via the gates at the far end along the canal before the trampoline place, then come back up to the end and ring the doorbell!

Came across Battleground Gaming UK while browsing Google Maps in search of Pokemon stock, which as any collector will know is an increasingly difficult thing to find locally thanks to scalpers hoovering up everything in sight. Me and a mate decided to make the drive over to Stirchley to check it out. First things first, finding the place is an adventure in itself. We spent a good ten minutes driving up and down the business park looking for the entrance before eventually working out that the storefront is on the opposite side, running alongside the access road parallel to the Worcester and Birmingham Canal near AirHop. The Google Maps pin could really do with being updated to better reflect where the actual entrance is. Parking is also very tight down that end of the business park and we ended up having to double back onto Pershore Road and re-enter from the rear, parking up near the electricity pylon and walking down. A map somewhere on the business park itself would go a long way. One more note on getting there, and this is absolutely not the store's fault, but the road running alongside the canal that provides access to the storefront is in an absolutely dreadful state. Some of the worst potholes I have seen in a long time. Consider yourself warned if you are driving down that way. Once you find it you ring a bell to be let in, which was a first for me and caught me off guard, but walking inside was a genuinely pleasant surprise. From the outside on a quiet business park you would never expect what is behind the door. It was absolutely buzzing with people inside, a proper Tardis moment, and the store itself was well stocked and had a great atmosphere. It is worth knowing going in that the store is primarily geared towards Warhammer and model painting, which was fairly obvious from the Google Maps photos and Facebook page beforehand, so not a criticism as such. They do stock Pokemon and Magic the Gathering, but both feel a little like afterthoughts in terms of how they are displayed. The MTG stock was tucked away on shelves behind the till in a way that made it quite hard to browse, and the Pokemon products were on a rack right in front of the till which doubled as the pathway for people to pay, meaning you constantly felt like you were in the way trying to look at anything. The staff member on the day was brilliant though, really polite and genuinely helpful. He laid the Pokemon packs out on the counter for me to pick through and joked that he did not want to be responsible for me pulling anything bad, which gave me a good laugh and made the whole experience feel very relaxed and friendly. Pricing on individual packs seemed reasonable, though the MTG products did not have prices on at all, which meant standing around for fifteen to twenty minutes while he texted the owner to find out, only to discover they were more expensive than other places we had visited. If prices were clearly labelled on the MTG stock I would likely have bought something, but waiting around that long to find out only to be disappointed on price is something I would be reluctant to go through again. That said, there is clearly a brilliant little store here with a great community feel to it and I would definitely go back. Particularly if Warhammer and tabletop gaming is your thing it looks fantastic. For Pokemon and MTG hunters it is worth a visit but go in with realistic expectations, do your price research beforehand, and maybe avoid the canal road if you value your suspension.

The owner is so friendly and helpful. I was completely new to Warhammer, and a little nervous, but I was given great advice and made to feel excited about my new hobby! Prices are great too! Easy enough to find if you use Google maps and spot the sign above the shop 😁

I absolutely love the gaming community Joe has built up. The discord is a fantastic place to chat to like minded people, worth checking everyday. I play at Joe's a couple of times a month and the new site is just *chef's kiss*. I drive over an hour to get to it and it is worth it! There's room for plenty of games - the tournaments will be in house in 2026!!! - there's great food onsite, the shop bit is jam packed and I get my minis from only here and have never had a problem. I honestly can't fault the shop, it's a wonderful place for the community!

My go-to for anything Warhammer related, amazing customer service and friendly staff. Great prices, and the store has quickly become my local spot for games too. Couldn’t recommend enough. *Edit/Update* Battleground continues to be my go-to spot for Warhammer and Hobbying within the area, Joe is always helpful and goes above and beyond to make his customers feel welcome. I’ve noticed a few people making reference to the phone number for the store not being reachable; the Store hasn’t had a phone line for some time, and for whatever reason Google keeps adding the number back on when it’s removed? - if you need to speak to Joe either reach out via Facebook, Or do as I do and nip into the shop.
