The Upper Hand TCG

Staff are super nice, and it has a big selection of singles. The prices are pretty fair relative to some other card shops. Also bought just one pokemon booster pack and got a really good card so that definitely made my experience really nice. Definitely coming back here when I have the time.

I’m based on the west coast and ordered some Gundam TCG products online from The Upper Hand, and the experience was excellent. The staff I interacted with were genuinely kind and easy to deal with, which made the whole process feel a lot more personal than your typical online order. I was actually planning to place an even bigger follow-up order for my friends and me because of how positive the experience was. Unfortunately, I just missed the window and the owner, Christian, wasn’t available at the time, which was a bit of bad timing on my end more than anything else. Still, based on how I was treated, this is easily a A+++++ 10/10 for me. Sending some love from the west coast. If you’re into Gundam or TCGs in general, these guys are absolutely worth supporting.

Great place in general with a very wide range of cards. Staff are very welcoming and seem to love to hold conversations with all costumers from various eras. Sucks that pokemon card prices for both sealed and singles are nuts, but that's where the market currently is at so it's not really their doing. Would be a 5 star review if they kept track of their inventory for card singles in general instead of just the sealed product that's always in stock. Unfortunately not everyone lives close by and can't regularly see what great cards they got :( Edit: Changing to a 5 star review after the reply I got about not having their singles online for the locals to have a chance. As a local collector, 100% respect and thankful about that. Never considered that as an option, very sorry about shitting on you about that. Also forgot to add in my original review about their trade-in rates. Honestly they got one of the best rates I've seen- they don't try to lowball you at all even if you're clueless about the prices. If you have have some cards to trade/sell, this is the place to go.

Our visit to South Common Mall was completely spur of the moment, and we decided to pop into the store because my son absolutely loves collecting Pokémon cards. I honestly didn’t know much about how everything worked, but as soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Brian (or Bryan) not sure how he spells lol. Brian was incredibly helpful and patient. He took the time to explain how Pokémon works and told my kids about the tournaments hosted at the store. My son is only seven years old and had so many questions, and Brian answered every single one without ever seeming annoyed. His kindness and patience really stood out to me. Another young employee also made my son’s day by giving him a really cool oversized Pokémon card, which he now adores (and has safely stored in his own Ziploc bag!). That small gesture meant so much to him. I just wanted to give a big shout-out to Brian and the other young man who helped us on Friday, February 13th. We truly appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the time they took with us. We will definitely be coming back on a Sunday to check out how the Pokémon tournaments work! Highly recommend. 😊

Absolutely love The Upper Hand by South Common! The staff are super friendly, professional, and always make you feel welcome. The space is clean, modern, and has such a great vibe. You can really tell they care about their clients and take pride in what they do. On my last visit I left with top loaders and card slots. Highly recommend!
