I was a regular customer and tournament participant at Timemasters, which runs various TCG events including Digimon, One Piece, and Gundam alongside its primary comic book business. Unfortunately my experience deteriorated due to ongoing issues with the tournament organizer's conduct. Specifically: I was publicly dismissed when expressing interest in a deck, with an implication that I copy other players' choices. During a tournament game I had to ask the same rules question five times before receiving a straight answer. When I tried to address these concerns privately, I was met with weeks of silence despite clearly communicating how to reach me. When the issues were eventually raised, they were addressed publicly rather than privately, which creating an uncomfortable environment for everyone present. I genuinely wanted to support this local game store and was an active contributor to the community. However the environment created by the tournament organizer made continued participation feel unwelcoming. If you're considering attending TCG events here, I'd encourage you to be aware that the experience may vary significantly depending on your relationship with the people running the events.

I’ve been shopping at TimeMasters since the mid-90s, back when the store was in some of its earlier locations, so it has long been one of my main sources for comics. Because of that history, I honestly have very little bad to say about the shop overall. That said, I do feel the store has diversified a bit too far away from comics over the years. At the same time, it’s hard to argue with success when the place is busy, energetic, and packed with gaming tournaments and customers enjoying themselves. My biggest issue is that many popular books are rarely kept in stock for long. Completing full runs can be frustrating because key issues are often sold out, leaving only the less desirable variants behind. I’ve also found the staff can sometimes be a little hands-off when answering comic-related questions. Too often the response is simply, “No, we don’t have it,” without much effort to suggest alternatives, place an order, or continue the conversation. For a store with such a strong comic history, there doesn’t always seem to be the same excitement around comics that used to define the place. The comic selection itself is still solid, but new releases can feel understocked, and some of the back issue longboxes are packed so tightly they’re difficult to browse comfortably. On the positive side, the graphic novel section is well maintained and feels like the real heart of the comic side of the store. Beyond comics, TimeMasters has an excellent selection of manga, games, and gaming accessories, and they do a great job hosting gaming events that clearly bring a lot of life into the shop. The store itself is clean, well maintained, and its current location near the Village Mall is probably the most accessible it has ever been. Overall, it’s still absolutely worth visiting. Most of my criticisms really come from watching a longtime comic shop adapt to changing times and broaden its appeal in order to stay successful. Even if I miss some of the old comic-focused atmosphere, it’s hard to fault a business for doing what it needs to do to thrive.

I always have a fun time here. Staff are lovely. I'm usually shopping here about once a month, for sure. Also, some great finds to be found in a comic book shop!
