This magical place feels like a perfect combination of being in your school cafeteria and your living room in the best way. It’s being 10 years old all over again. The staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly. If you’re looking for a safe space, this is absolutely the place. None of the food tastes frozen, which is such a refreshing change. Most board game cafes rely on cheap processed eats but everything here tastes like it was made in house?? What a blessing. May you never go out of business my dudes.

The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and perfect for spending a few hours with friends or family. The game selection is fantastic, with options for both casual players and serious board game enthusiasts. The food and drinks are also excellent. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into creating a fun and inclusive environment. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable outing in Hamilton.

Had such an incredible time at The Bard and Bear! The staff were so friendly and attentive. They walk you through what is there and they bring the food and drinks to your table. Food was great! Such an incredible selection of games to pick from classics to brand new ones I’d never heard of. I found the pricing extremely reasonable for all that you get to do! Would definitely recommend this place hands down!!

10/10 experience! Great service and can get busy so make sure to make a reservation. Been to other board game cafes in Toronto and this one in comparison has a lot more! Ambience is nice. Will come back and try their food and drink options too :)

If you just want to have a coffee and enjoy the ambience, this place might not be the best choice. They charge $9 per person just to play games, which feels quite expensive. This is actually the first coffee shop I’ve seen in Canada that charges separately for playing board games. Also, if you don’t want to play games, you really can’t just sit and enjoy your coffee comfortably — the whole setup is mainly for gaming. Overall, it’s a fun concept if you’re going specifically to play, but not ideal if you’re simply looking for a relaxing coffee experience.
