Ogre's Lair Game Shop

It's overwhelming at first, the place is literally wall to wall floor to ceiling card games, board games, and miniature games. Some great hard to find things as well.

Great in store selection and a super knowledgeable owner. Helped us pick up Dominion and a few other games for beginners. Roughly half the store is war hammer themed with paints and anything else you need for your army. Would love to come back with some friends and get some expansions!

The Ogre's Lair is one of the best game stores I have been in, in the world. The board game selection is unbeatable in the FLGS world, I challenge anyone to show me a store with better :) The owner, James, is a great guy - just go talk to him! One of the smartest, and nicest men I know. As a local ladygamer who plays games in his store more than once a week, every week, I can tell you without hesitation that he runs a fantastic space. Our local gaming community is definitely nicer to women than some stores I have played in so weird things don't happen very often, but the few times that men have been weird to me as the woman in the store James stepped up and made sure his expectations were known. Check out the Lair, Yellowknife.

Have always loved 0gres lair. Great place for nerds to meet and greet. Usually through weekly mtg nights, James (the owner) is extremely knowledgeable about the boardgames he sales and all the other products. And would answer the 100s of questions I had about various products and specifics on games without issue.

My wife and I were visiting Yellowknife on our honeymoon and I was pleasantly surprised to find a board game store in the mall! The selection of games is incredible! Yes - they are stacked to the ceiling, but that's because there's such a great selection to choose from. I was honestly shocked by the number of board games that the store carried; mainly because I wasn't expecting it in Yellowknife. I was hesitant as I read the earlier review about the employee not acknowledging the customers, but this is likely because they didn't ask any questions. The "employee" is actually the store owner and he's very knowledgable and friendly if you talk to him. He knows a lot about board games and you can tell that he loves to talk about them to. Just initiate a conversation and you'll be pleasantly surprised! Whenever we visit Yellowknife, we'll be stopping in! We're not so much into tabletop games or tcg's anymore, but for those who are, there's a full games workshop and plenty of selection for magic and Pokemon cards. Thanks again for everything and if any of our friends from Ontario visit Yellowknife, we'll be sending them your way!!!!
