Today was my first time in this shop, and I can’t speak to their play environment (which seems to have consistently excellent reviews), but I was extremely dissatisfied with the sales side of their business. Another reviewer has left a similar comment before (earlier this year, 2026) so this isn’t an isolated incident. The person working said that they price their Pokemon singles based on TCGPlayer, which is a fairly standard method of establishing a starting point for a price. I asked about the price of a Pikachu Movie Promo (WotC Black Star Promo 4) in damaged condition (see photo of the full crease across the artwork of the card) and was told it was $40, which is excessively overpriced. I pulled up the TCGPlayer listings (which uses US dollars) which gave Near Mint at $60 (US$42), Light Play at $40 (US$28), and Damaged at $14 (US$10); see photo for these reference prices. I pointed out that according to their stated baseline source of prices that they were selling a damaged card at the price of a LP card and offered $15 for the card. I was told the following things: 1) the store gets their prices from the computer “based on” TCGPlayer, 2) the store has no input on the prices chosen by the computer, 3) the store has no way to change the prices of a card, and 4) the store never makes deals “because we’re not vendors, we don’t do card shows”, the quotation offered in a derisive tone. (I’ve never purchased cards from a card show, but I have purchased from many stores and while some aren’t flexible on their prices, most don’t respond rudely to a genuine offer. Especially for a store that doesn’t list any prices on cards - you have to ask about each one - it seems ridiculous to respond rudely to an offer.) If this store only sells cards according to prices that they have no input on, what’s the point of buying from this card shop instead of the internet with better prices and more selection? Every store can sell cards for whatever price they think is reasonable, I’m NOT upset that this particular card was overpriced. Rather, I’m upset that this store both overprices cards and claims that they don’t have any control over their prices (and was rude about it). I would strongly avoid this store for buying singles of trading cards because they have outrageous prices that deviate from their stated reference, claim to not have any input on their selling prices (who chooses the price then?), and are rude to reasonable counteroffers. You might have to drive a bit, but there are many better card shops out there, and if you don’t want to drive then just buy from TCGPlayer or another website instead - any of those are more deserving of your money.

These guys are top notch. They will make you feel included when you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. Tyler gave me a ton of really nice cards out of the kindness of his heart and even took an hour out of his day to teach me how to play. I cannot say enough good things about the employees of this shop and their product. 100% recommend Benjamin Norrad

A welcoming atmosphere no matter who walks through the door is rare in these types of shops and Battlegrounds has it. The people there are legitimately excited to share passions and interests and it is refreshing! I brought my daughter to a tournament for Pokémon and we are fairly new to the card game. We were nervous and both the staff and other players made us feel so included, checking in on us and letting us inch in at our own pace. Honestly, it was quite magical and I am positive it is a core memory for my daughter now. This shop is a diamond in the rough and I will be sure to support it anyway I can so that others can experience that magic, whether child or adult. :)

Great space to game. The staff are nice and helpful. A very good selection, plus a great place to find some hidden gems. Especially when most other game stores sell out quickly of new releases, Battlegrounds some times holds out a little longer. I especially love the online order system paired with binders you can go through in store. A real need den!

Always loved shopping here on my work breaks. I spend a good amount of money here monthly. Today was an experience that will make me take my business elsewhere. I bought a one piece single. I was always told they do their prices of tcg. I didn't think to verify the price myself as well ( my fault ) I paid what they wanted and left. About 5 mins after the sale realized I was over charged close to 200 bucks. I immediately messaged. Was told their system updates every 6 hours and no solution to make it right. Again this is my fault as well I should have checked but also trusted the shop. I just had this as a warning... check your cards! Happy taking my business elsewhere but also sad I have to because I really enjoyed shopping here. Sad to see the service won't help when realizing their system is overcharging people.
