Evo Games

I’ve been a returning customer of Evo Games and have visited both the Orion and Flinders stores, but unfortunately my most recent experience has left me disappointed. I came into the store looking to trade a number of Pokémon cards after seeing advertising stating they were “Wanting Pokémon Cards”. I was offered store credit only, with no cash option provided. That wasn’t necessarily an issue for us, as we were specifically looking to use the credit towards a Pokémon 151 Charizard they had in stock. One of the cards I brought in was a Mega Lucario EX in great condition. Despite being a desirable card, it wasn’t even properly looked at before seemingly being dismissed. There also wasn’t any clear information provided about what Pokémon cards they were actually looking to purchase, which makes advertising that you’re “Wanting Pokémon Cards” a little confusing from a customer’s perspective. We weren’t coming in expecting cash or trying to simply offload cards. We were prepared to trade cards for store credit and then put that credit straight back into the business towards a relatively expensive 151 Charizard. From my previous visits, their singles are generally in good condition and there can be a decent selection. However, I’ve found some singles are marked up higher than I would expect compared with broader market pricing. Their English Pokémon sealed stock is also a weak point. English booster availability in particular tends to be quite limited, so if you’re specifically looking for English Pokémon products, the selection can be disappointing. Overall, I’ve had reasonable experiences with Evo Games previously, which is why I’ve returned to both the Orion and Flinders locations. Unfortunately, this trade-in experience was disappointing, particularly when we were intending to immediately spend the store credit on another card they already had in stock. Clearer communication around which cards they’re actively buying, how trade-ins are assessed, and what trade options are available would make the experience considerably better.

The staff at Evo games have always been soo welcoming. The pricing is really good compared to a lot of TCG stores. I always recommend Evo to anyone who wants trading cards. Gemma, the owner, and everyone I’ve interacted with are some of the nicest people you can come across in retail. I couldn’t recommend your stores enough ☺️

For getting on the platform and saying out loud what every single retail worker wants to say to these problem people, you and your team are legends ! Well done and if I’m travelling up that way I will definitely be popping in to say hello and make a purchase to support your business !!

Evo Games is a pillar of the tcg community. They have friendly staff and reasonable prices and I always have a positive experience when I visit either of their locations. Highly Recommended!

Short story. I came in with a young kid that I support who loves Pokémon. As they were browsing, the owner took the time to chat with them about Pokémon cards and found out that their favourite Pokémon is Scorbunny. He left and came back with a scorbunny card that he handed to them for free. It absolutely made their day. This was 2 maybe 3 years ago now and they still beam about this interaction. They now have a full blown collection of cards and we visit the store every so often. We are always met with the same patience and kindness, no matter who is working. I regularly see events on at the shop which is amazing for the community. You can see how much some of those events mean to people. This is a great store, run by great people and we need more of them.
