I ordered a TTRPG table from this store in July 2025. At the time of purchase, I was assured the table would be completed and delivered within 8–10 weeks. Once that timeframe passed, I was informed of a delay and given a revised completion date. When that date also passed, my repeated emails, messages, and phone calls went unanswered for extended periods. Many messages were left on read without response. This pattern continued for months: missed deadlines, no proactive communication, and constant difficulty obtaining even the most basic updates. At no point did the store reach out to me first—I always had to initiate contact to learn of yet another delay. After more than eight months of delays, I was informed that the table had been built to the wrong size. That's right – it took over half a year for them to build the wrong table! I eventually had to resort to sending a letter threatening legal action before the correct table was produced. Even then, delivery was delayed by another month due to an apparent lack of planning, with multiple promised delivery dates missed without notice or explanation. While we eventually received the table, it did not include all of the features that were advertised—something that was only disclosed after the table had already been built. Additionally, the table arrived with missing parts. Despite requesting replacements, we have still not received them (now more than two months later). In summary, I paid a significant amount of money and endured over eight months of delays to receive a product that was incomplete and not as advertised. No discount, compensation, or even a sincere apology was offered for the ongoing delays, errors, and poor communication. The entire experience was deeply disappointing and unnecessarily stressful. I strongly do not recommend purchasing a TTRPG table from this store. Their communication was extremely poor, their service unprofessional, and their conduct at times verged on dishonest. They appear disorganized and unreliable, and I am aware of other customers who have experienced nearly identical issues. I am particularly disappointed because I initially wanted to support a local, family-run business—but in hindsight, I would recommend looking elsewhere rather than dealing with AJ’s Place. *Update: In response to the store's reply, the missing items you failed to deliver have still not been provided, despite being over 6 months since the table’s delivery. At this stage, I do not require the store to take any further action, as I have already sourced the missing parts myself and resolved the issue far more promptly than you ever could. Let this update be another example of the store's poor service provided and their continuing inability to resolve issues.

I requested a quote from AJ's Place in June 2025. Everything started off well, the table I ordered was paid in full in Sep 2025 and was due to arrive Dec 2025. Then delays happened. First it was family issues (which was fine) but then there were delays every month. Weeks went by without any communication, their number was disconnected (due to relocating but it never got updated), and I had to send multiple emails and messages through their socials to get a response. I live in SA and their business is in QLD so I couldn't visit them in person. Waiting for updates became extremely stressful as the table I purchased was not cheap and it felt like it would never be finished. Excuses were made as to why the table wasn't completed in a reasonable amount of time, but the lack of communication was unacceptable. The excuses consisted of working 12 hour days, working 2 jobs, being 60 years old, etc. What about the other people that also work 2 jobs and still manage to keep up a good working relationship with their customers? It's not hard to reply to a message to reassure your paying customer that their order is still being completed. In my opinion, the owner of the business, Jeff, needs to rethink how they run it. I know they were building multiple tables at the same time, however perhaps it would have been better to build one table, finish it, then start another one. Don't take on more than you can handle and don't promise what you can't deliver. If I had been given a delivery date of a year, I would've accepted that. But don't tell me my table will ready this month, or next weekend, or the week after that. It happened for months, so many broken promises. As it was coming up to year and there was still no outcome, I had to threaten legal action, which did nothing to speed up the process. I spoke to Legal Aid QLD and considered taking it further but then, finally, the table was completed in May 2026. Then I saw a review online that said AJ's Place had closed their store permanently. I panicked and contacted them for an urgent update about the delivery of the table. I emailed, text, left voicemails, and I even posted two letters to the ABN address and the address on their website. Not receiving a quick response or an update to say 'don't worry, your table is on its way' after their business had 'shut down' was totally inappropriate. So I had to resort to contacting Jeff's new workplace. He didn't offer any apologies and said that the table was with Alanna to organise delivery. I had never heard of this name before but Jeff seemed to think I had been in contact with her. I believe Alanna (AJ) runs the email account. Jeff didn't pass on her contact number that I requested. It seems contacting Jeff's work poked the bear. Alanna responded the next morning advising me a delivery driver was being organised but it was taking a while because of the fuel crisis. I was also asked to not contact Jeff's work again because it was inappropriate. I found the lack of communication from AJ's Place inappropriate and had to resort to desperate measures. Since contacting Jeff's work however, AJ kept up reasonable and timely communication was which greatly appreciated. The table was finally delivered on 1 July 2027 to our relief. The delivery drivers were lovely people and their communication was great. However, they didn't receive an address to pick up the table so that caused further frustration and confusion. The table we received is good quality (with some scuffs around the edges). I would've thought the dice trays would've been deeper. More importantly, some things were missing. The TV works well but we didn't receive the glass protective screen, the remote control for the LED light display, and one bolt to lock the table. AJ and I are coming to an arrangement on delivery of these items. In summary, I would not recommend purchasing a gaming table from AJ's Place until they can guarantee their timeframe will be stuck to and their communication will be reasonable.

Ordered a table online and paid in full back in August last year and I stopped receiving update emails in December 2025. Since then I have sent 3 different emails in January and February and have not received a response. I have tried to call but no answer, have tried to contact their fb and instagram team and just got left on read. I have seen other reviews and it’s leaning towards settling A bank dispute to get a refund as at this point it’s felt like a complete scam that’s just stolen my money

Don't bother. Ordered items online to be delivered. It took 2months of emailing and endless excuses before I got the opportunity to travel to the physical store. I assumed the store would be a mess of boxes and no stock considering my items could not be sent. Nope. I walked in, 1 item was grabbed from beside the register, the rest was grabbed off the store shelf, postage was refunded and I left knowing I wasn't going to return. It used to feel like such a welcoming place and then suddenly...nope. Even though the websites and social media say nothing, the physical store is closed according to the discord. That being said, I wouldn't trust ordering online if you can't even walk in to follow up in person.

Updating my original review as the situation didn’t resolve as expected. AJ initially explained delays around the store relocation, and it’s clear there’s a supportive local community around the shop. However, for online orders there was no delivery and no response to multiple follow-ups for several months. The order only progressed much later after I had already raised a bank dispute to resolve the refund. I sympathise with the personal circumstances shared later on, but from an online customer perspective the lack of communication made the experience difficult. Wishing the business the best moving forward, though I wouldn’t feel comfortable ordering online again.
